Academic Printing and Publishing (APP) was established in 1975 by Roger Shiner. In 1986 the Canadian-based publishing house acquired Apeiron from its founders at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. In 2010 the international academic publisher De Gruyter (established in 1754), purchased this prestigious journal of ancient philosophy and science from APP.
Since its founding, APP has published numerous books, noted for their scholastic merit and production quality, which continue to stimulate scholarly inquiry and debate.
In 2014 this distinguished independent publishing house was purchased by Australian interests who seek to further APP's proud traditions of innovative publishing and rigorous scholarship in the history, philosophy, religion, drama, art and archaeology of classical antiquity.
